I love summer holidays....

I've been having a lovely time relaxing away from University... reading...playing with kids.. catching up with home and home related things....running... cooking... gardening.. and eating too much.....  AND PAINTING.. Excitingly i have been given a Commission to paint for the fabulous Phil Windsor and Super Silvie Windsor a piece for their offices...  very thrilling really.. Will start this soon....

What have i been doing well here 'tis.. they are all very different to the waves and water scenes.. Well some times you have to be brave and step out and try new things.

Outback in flower... much work to do

Anemone flowers..  nearly finished

A view from Allambie heights.. Manly dam.. still to be finished

Been busy painting and website building

Been a busy few weeks with school holidays and uni assignments, but my latest painting "untitled" is nearly there...(will post shortly) and best of all i have a webpage!! yes just one page but it gives you the gist of me and my art and opens a door to the world wide webstickle! heres the link...enjoy!! http://paulineslater.com.au/

Silhouetted Sunrise-- I just love orange!

Tuesday, April 5, 2011

been painting

Latest painting has taken a twist.... looking like a sunrise now rather than a sunset, still much work to be done but definitely on the right track now.. I must try the orange/red sunset thing though at some stage.. my next venture when this is finished is a view from Allambie heights then a stricken sailboat on a beach (pale green in tones) for the Marine exhibition at RNPYC and another wave (just love the things) though this time a little abstract in style and colour... wait and see.
And a new idea has sprung for a series on trees--will start with a sepia or B&W in media of ink/charcoal/impasto and paint  - object to be represented -banksia tree (their bark is just phenomenal).

I wish for more energy and time to keep up with my brain and its ideas!
wishing all well
Pauline

2007-2009

During this time period trying for a second child proved an emotional and physical challenge as did a change in my other "sensible career".  I began studying at Masters level in 2008 and this became all consuming.  The birth of our second child, James Noah in 2009 meant that my painting was truly on the back burner..A few paintings did make it though before our miracle arrived...

Let the year commence

With inspiration in mind and some well deserved rest let this year begin.  I am starting out by finishing off.  That is completing works that have stood neglected for a year or two whilst raising children and study have taken precedence.

This work is "title-less" currently but relates to sailing regattas on Sydney harbor in summer time with thunderous sky's reflecting light. Much under painting has been completed and the detailed city skyline is yet to be installed...

I was inspired to complete this painting after a brilliant outing with children in tow on a Manly ferry to Circular Quay.

I have started work on a website and am currently learning the ins and outs of Dreamweaver Yeah!!

Onwards upwards and keep on painting!!

December 2010

As time moves quickly and the New Year looms I am taking my life on a different journey.
Focusing heavily on an academic career change and the  nurturing of children and home has left little time for the creative me to be seen over the last decade. 2011 is my springboard year of the inspiring soul.

I will challenge myself to seek my creative and imaginative self and push my artistic and intuitive senses to produce regular artworks and develop conduits for the world to see these.....

First challenge: produce an artwork a month
Second Challenge: step into the internet age, blog/journal regularly and develop a working website for my art
Third Challenge: step into the world of the art prize entry
Fourth Challenge: develop working relationships with several Sydney and Northern beaches based galleries
Fifth challenge: expand my art style and genre

I am looking forward with anticipation with what 2011 will bring..........
